While daily news reports are filled with negative
stories about the environment, politics, and
education, we can still find hope for the future
thanks to some promising ‘green’ efforts in
K- 12 schools. From increased recess to outdoor
learning pedagogy, schools across the U.S.
and beyond are catching the green bug and
the results are encouraging. After all, what is
the ultimate purpose of our efforts for both
education and the environment? As educators
and school support teams, we work to help
students learn content while becoming better
critical thinkers and problem solvers. We support
the development of happy, healthy, well-balanced
children as they move into adulthood. We strive
